CRS Rice Bowl is the Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian aid agency of the Catholic Church in the United States. Through CRS Rice Bowl, faith communities in every US diocese put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Global crises and needs continue to be critical. Yet with the huge cutbacks in American and international governments’ funding of programs managed by CRS and other agencies, the already-perilous gap between resources and needs has expanded. Literally hundreds of millions of lives, including children, are now more at-risk than ever.
Through YOUR generous financial and prayer support of CRS Rice Bowl, YOU make a difference! In Ukraine and the Holy Land, Sudan and the Caribbean, Afghanistan and Venezuela – 29 countries and 2.4 million people served by CRS in 2025, even with massively reduced funds. Areas affected severely by war, civil unrest, natural disasters, and financial crises. And CRS has been and is present in those regions for the long term: providing lifesaving aid in disasters and displacement; addressing deep food insecurity and nutrition concerns; delivering water, sanitation, shelter, and human and health services; and investing in crop stability. local business development, livelihood support, and peace-building. Plus, 25% of Rice Bowl dollars received in the Archdiocese of Chicago are given as grants to non-profit groups in our own communities!
