What Is the Purpose of This Ministry?

The purpose of this ministry is to assist the priest or deacon and wedding couple at the wedding rehearsal, take care of last minute details at the ceremony and help calm the anxious ones.

Do You Like to Attend Weddings?

Do you slow down when you see a bridal party gather outside of church? Then there is an opportunity for you in the Wedding Coordinator Ministry. You will be part of a team helping to take care of excitable brides and nervous grooms. You will assist at the wedding rehearsal, take care of last minute details at the ceremony, and ensure that the event starts on time. It is a fun and unique ministry to young couples.

Why Is There a Program Like This?

The wedding coordinators assist the presider by conducting the rehearsal and by acting as communicators on the day of the wedding. When the presider is at the altar, they have no way of knowing if the bridal party has arrived, is lined up, or ready to start. Wedding coordinators assist with this communication process.

In addition to assisting the presider and calming the nerves of the bridal party, the wedding coordinators see this situation as an opportunity to evangelize. Members of the bridal party may be in our Church for the very first time. It may also be a long time since they attended a Church service. Because of our willingness to help and attend to the wedding party's needs, it gives the bridal party a positive Church experience that may convince them to return in the future.

What Does It Take to Be a Wedding Coordinator?

To be a wedding coordinator all it takes is a willingness to be helpful and friendly. That is all that is needed.

How Much Time Does It Take?

Meetings for all wedding coordinators are rare so there is no additional time commitment other than the rehearsal and wedding. Usually a wedding coordinator will be asked to assist with one wedding per month. If you are not available for a weekend, we try to find a substitute.

What Training Do Volunteers Receive?

As a volunteer wedding coordinator you will receive materials, have a church tour, and receive general instructions on preparing for the rehearsal and wedding. The presider that you work with will provide more specific training.
