What Is PPC (Parish Pastoral Council)?

The PPC is a ministry that deals with resolving all the issues facing our parish on a regular basis. The PPC addresses the spoken and unspoken needs of our community. Guided by the Holy Spirit, PPC members are empowered by the Pastor and by one another to affect needed change and develop solutions to concerns that are brought forward.

PPC Mission Statement

  • To provide counsel and support to the Pastor,
  • Nourish the faith of others to help foster and develop a Christian Community,
  • Witness to the good news of God's love by recognizing and responding to the needs of others both within the parish and world communities,
  • Joyfully share our human and spiritual gifts; and
  • Affirm responsible parish stewardship by planning for the future, encouraging an active role for the laity, and giving vision to the Christian dream of love and peace.

Purpose of the PPC

The overall purpose of the PPC is to help achieve the Parish Mission for following Jesus and building God's kingdom.

Our PPC has a solid Christian foundation based on spirituality, prayer, scripture, and guidance by the Holy Spirit.

It is a "Parish" council in that it deals with the broad issues affecting the overall parish, whether in parish life, religious formation, liturgy, building and grounds, education and social justice.

It is "Pastoral" in that it seeks to help the parish provide "for the common good" of all its members, both in spiritual and temporal matters.

It is a "Council" in that it is made up of a cross-section of parish members to represent a wide range of opinions, interests, experiences and perspectives, to:

  • provide counsel and advice for the Pastor,
  • collaborate in ministry with the professional Pastoral Staff; and
  • allow parishioners' shared ownership of the parish's direction.

The Council uses a decision-making process based on consensus and discernment.

This body is the central resource for parish planning, direction and problem resolution.

It also provides a central parish communication link.

Currently, our Pastor, Fr. Tom, our Associate Pastor, Fr. Marian, 14 parishioners, 1 staff member and 2 Deacon serve on the council. The PPC Guidelines allow for up to 15 parish members portioned between representatives from existing parish ministries and "At large" members representing the broad parish community.

When Are PPC Meetings?

PPC meetings are held on the third Monday of each month.
